Dropper Rig

A dropper rig sets your hooks and baits on a separate line to the main (retrieval) line that runs from the Kontiki back to the winch. This gives extra security as the baits are away from the retrieval line

The Seahorse Dropper Rig is a separate line consisting of a carabiner, strop, 10m break-away, 100m leader and stoppered section with 80 stoppers, stored on a light portable hand reel with a short aluminium stand. The line is attached (with the carabiner) that is also hooked onto the back of the kontiki; you can clip the traces on the stopper line as the kontiki pulls both lines out to sea.

On retrieval, the retrieval line is wound onto the winch; after removing the kontiki, the dropper rig is also wound onto the winch. This allows you to remove the traces as usual. The dropper rig is then transferred by winding it back onto the Dropper Rig hand reel.

The big advantage of the Seahorse Dropper Rig is that it allows your hooks and baits to be on a separate line and use your existing traceboard and traces.

The Seahorse Dropper Rig comes with 5*8 oz weights for use on the Dropper Rig.

The Seahorse Dropper Rig can be used with any Kontiki unit or winch.
